We all realize the power of social media for generating publicity about our message, products and books. CEOs, from the president of Royal Caribbean cruise lines to the head of business data provider Thomson Reuters Corp., are writing personal blogs.
But in the grand scheme of things, social media is a newcomer and a lot of users are still figuring it out. Rules are amended, formats evolve and new networking sites are created. While it’s daunting to keep up with all the technology, we know some things won’t change: What you post, how you post it, and how you interact are all fundamental to developing an effective online presence.
